The Northside of Chicago is the area bounded by The Chicago River on the south to Howard Street on the north and from Lake Michigan on the east to as far west as O´Hare Airport. This area has undergone a tremendous transition in the past ten years or so. Numerous new and newer high rise condominium buildings have been built, some of these buildings overlooking the lakefront and its many parks and beaches. Many older homes and large apartment buildings have been renovated with fine finishes and converted to condominiums. In addition, quite a few older frame homes have been demolished and replaced with either four story condominiums or single family brick and stone homes. Chicago is also noted for its bungalows, greystones and brownstone style of buildings, many of which have undergone interior renovations. These properties have their own set of regulations when it comes to restoration and remodeling, thus most of the work is usually done on the inside, while keeping the charm of the exterior intact. Some of the neighborhoods found in this area include: Bucktown, the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Wrigleyville, Lincoln Square and North Center.
